My favorite family story right now is about William Bailus Roland's mother, Sarah Caroline Gardner Roland Roland Ray.

When Jasper married Sarah, her first husband James Roland had died. This is why their marriage certificate reads with them both having the same last name. But after Jasper died in the Civil War Years, Sarah married again, to a Leander Ray. Leander was a preacher, whose name occurs after so many of the wedding records of couples in the area, that he must have been the pastor of a nice size concregation. Sarah married into a family which already was large and brought her brood into the mix, but also had a number of children with Leander as well. Counting all the children that Sarah called hers at one time or another, I believe I came up with 21. Her story was a bit confusing to unravel, but knowing about her, makes me so proud to count her among my ancestral grandmothers!
